(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay

(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay

Oil on board

12x18 with gold floater frame. Wired and ready to hang.

The first time I’d ever seen a crane, was in Key West, FL. I was so intrigued by its quiet graceful movement and slow energy.

We went November 2019.  Not knowing it would be the last trip we would take for a while.

I was scrolling through my camera roll and stopped when I got to those photos.

Our dear friend was celebrating a very special birthday and rented a sweet house on the beach.  She asked her buddies to help celebrate this important milestone.

I had never been to The Keys before.

After our plane landed, we rented a car, hopped in and drove down the coast to the most beautiful home, that would be our retreat for the next 5 days.

Palm trees, beach, hammocks, kayaks, pool, bar, and a long dock that stretched out into the ocean.  It was all there – our own private hideout.

It was a peaceful paradise infused with love and friendship. Perfection.

The ten of us, played, sang, danced, cooked, swam, fished, exercised, talked, and yes…relaxed…

“Sittin’ on the dock of the bay

Watchin’ the tide roll away, ooh

I’m just sittin’on the dock of the bay

Wastin’ time”
